July
July 4, 1-4 p.m.—MUSIC IN THE PARK, Turtle River State Park. 23rd year with Dick King and the Classic Swing Band playing Big Band music at the CCC Memorial Shelter.
July 4 (At dusk)—JULY 4th CELEBRATION, Fort Stevenson State Park. Fireworks display in the picnic area of the park.
July 5—FOURTH OF JULY EXTRAVAGANZA, Lake Metigoshe State Park. Included in our weekend events is an annual bike parade that will take place on Saturday afternoon. At 1pm, we’ll begin decorating our bikes and lining up at the amphitheater. The parade will go through the campground and end near the beach where we’ll play some fun games. Everyone is welcome to participate so put on the red, white & blue and join us!
July 12—VISITOR APPRECIATION DAY, Lake Sakakawea State Park. Free entrance to Lake Sakakawea State Park.
July 12—SAFE BOATING DAY, Lake Sakakawea State Park. Free park entrance. Special programs for the kids include seminars on boat safety.
July 11-12—CHRISTMAS IN JULY, Lewis & Clark State Park. Decorate your campsite to complete for prizes.
July 12—TROLLEY ROBBERY, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. Board the 5 p.m. trolley from the 3rd Street Station in Mandan ($5/person, under 5 free), or watch the action at the Trolley Stop at the park.
July 12-13—SODBUSTER DAYS, Fort Ransom State Park. Celebration of early 20th century farm life with demonstrations of farming with horses, homemaking skills, music, farm-style food and more.
July 18 & 19—NORTH DAKOTA GOVERNOR’S CUP FISHING DERBY, Fort Stevenson State Park. 252 teams competing for the Governor’s Cup 33rd annual championship. Flights go out between 7:00 am and 8:30 am. Weigh-ins begin at 3 pm.
July 18-20—WILD WEST WEEKEND, Cross Ranch State Park. Events and times to be announced at a later time.
July 19 (9 a.m.-12 pm)—NORTH DAKOTA JUNIOR GOVERNOR’S CUP FISHING DERBY, Fort Stevenson State Park. Open to ages up to 17. Prizes awarded. Only charge is the park entrance fee.
July 19—FORT LINCOLN CAMPGROUND FUN DAY, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.
July 20 (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)—7th ANNUAL BULLHEAD FISHING TOURNAMENT, Beaver Lake State Park. Fishing starts at 9 a.m. with weigh-in at 2 p.m. Contact Beaver Lake State Park Staff at: 701-452-2752 for further details.
July 25-26—HALLOWEEN IN JULY, Lake Metigoshe State Park. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring costumes and candy, decorate campsites and participate in all of the park's spooky events. Take a frightful walk down our haunted trail on Friday night from 9:30-11pm. Kids can join us at the amphitheater at 10am on Saturday to put on their favorite costumes or get their face painted for trick-or-treating in the modern campground. Saturday evening will bring yet another haunting experience starting at 9pm at the amphitheater. Come to Lake Metigoshe State Park this weekend, if you dare!
July 25-27—CHRISTMAS IN JULY, Icelandic State Park. Decorate your campsite, it’s Christmas all over again!
July 26—FRISBEE GOLF TOURNAMENT & KITE DAY, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.
July 26—ADULT / CHILD FISHING TOURNAMENT, Grahams Island State Park. Contact the Lake Region Anglers Association of Devils Lake.
July 26—KIDS FEST, Grahams Island State Park. Starting at 10 a.m. at the Sivert Thompson Center.
