June

June 6-8—HALLOWEEN IN JUNE, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. Trick or treating, costume parade, games, face painting and more. Held in park campground.

June 7 (10 a.m.)—NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, Beaver Lake
State Park. Join a Ranger for an introduction to Beaver Lake State Park’s new trail system and a guided hike along segments of the new trail.  Meet at the park amphitheater at 10 a.m.

June 7 (2 p.m.)—NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, Fort Stevenson State Park. Ranger-guided hike through park’s native prairie. North Dakota bird checklist available. Hike will start at the Guardhouse Interpretive Center.

June 7—NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, Fort Ransom State Park. Hike with the Park Manager.  Meet at the park’s Visitor Center at 10 a.m.

June 7—NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, Icelandic State Park. Guided hikes through the Gunlogson Nature Preserve.

June 7—SAKAKAWEA TRAILS FEST, Lake Sakakawea State Park. Multi-agency event highlighting the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail and the North Country National Scenic Trail. Click here for Additional details.

June 7 – NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, Cross Ranch State Park. This nationally recognized event encourages people to get out and hike your local trails.  Whether you are an avid hiker or someone who just likes to get out, do some leisurely walking, and just be outdoors, Cross Ranch has enough trails and sites for whatever your interest level maybe.  Take advantage of your opportunity to come check out Cross Ranch State Park and experience the many miles of hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing trails the park has to offer.

June 7—VISITOR APPRECIATION DAY, Cross Ranch State Park.Vehicle entrance fee is waived.

June 7—NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, Lake Metigoshe State Park. Our trails at Lake Metigoshe offer a variety of outdoor experiences that may include geocaching, canoeing, birding, hiking or biking.  Activities this weekend celebrate what our trails have to offer.  Join us in celebrating the trails as well as chances to win National Trails Day prizes.

June 7—NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, Turtle River State park.  Join a Park Naturalist for a guided hike along segments of Turtle River State Park's trail system. Learn about natural resources contained within the State Park. Meet at the Chalet/Warming house near the sledding hill at 10 a.m.

June 14—VISITOR APPRECIATION DAY, Lake Metigoshe State Park. Lake Metigoshe State Park offers a variety of recreational experiences including swimming, hiking, biking and birding just to name a few.  While you are here enjoying such activities at the park, join us at the picnic shelter near the beach and enjoy a hot dog in honor of Visitor Appreciation Day.  We’ll be there at 11:30am and serve until the hot dogs are gone so we hope to see you there!

June 14—FRIENDS GROUP ANNUAL PICNIC and Shelter Dedication, Lewis & Clark State Park. Members of the park's Friends group are invited for entertainment and picnic. For information on joining the Friends of Lewis & Clark State Park, give Park Manager Al Larsen a call at 701-859-3071.

June 15—STATE PARK DAY, Grahams Island State Park. Free daily vehicle admission to the park.

June 20 & 21—MISSOURI RIVER BLUEGASS FESTIVAL. Cross Ranch State Park will be hosting its 18th annual Bluegrass Festival the third weekend of June.  A tentative list of performers is available here. Take advantage of the opportunity to not only take in quality Bluegrass music but while you’re in the area, visit Washburn for their annual Lewis & Clark Days weekend.

June 21—TURTLEFEST & VISITOR APPRECIATION DAY, Turtle River State Park. Join the Friends of Turtle River at their annual fundraiser, which will include guided tours, seminars and more. Click here for more details.

June 21—NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, Grahams Island State Park. Take a hike on the trails with one of the interpreters, starting at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m.  Meet at the Bait Shop.

June 21-22—FORT LINCOLN FESTIVAL, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. Military encampment and more. Vehicle admission fee & History Pass required.

June 28—FRISBEE GOLF TOURNAMENT & KITE DAY, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.

June 28-29—DEVILS LAKE CHAMBER WALLEYE FISHING TOURNAMENT. Grahams Island State Park. 150 teams competing in a two-day tournament.

June 28 & 29 (1– 4 p.m.)—FORT STEVENSON FRONTIER MILITARY DAYS, Fort Stevenson State Park. Living history demonstrations with military encampment and maneuvers. Skills and crafts of the Indian Wars period on display. Visit the Fort Stevenson Guardhouse Interpretive Center.

June 29—PARK APPRECIATION DAY, Fort Stevenson State Park. Free admission into Fort Stevenson State Park.
