Interpretive Activities

Weekend interpretive activities, including hikes, campfire programs and Dakota Explorers, are held every weekend during the summer. Information is posted on the campground bulletin boards.

2009 Special Events

May 25—MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY. Free admission to any state park on Memorial Day, in honor of past and present servicemen and women.

June 6-8—HALLOWEEN IN JUNE. Trick or treating, costume parade, games, face painting and much more.Held in the campgrounds. For more information click on the link.

July 18: CAMPGROUND FUN DAY.

Aug. 8: TRAIN ROBBERY at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park starting at 5:30 pm. Watch the Fort Lincoln Trolley be robbed by the Dakota Territory's worst scoundrels. The event is open to the public and can be seen either by visiting the park or riding out on the trolley. Be prepared for some old west gun fights.

Aug. 15:SHEHEKE RETURNS Bicentennial Anniversary, 1809-2009 The Mandan Persevere: A Traditional Celebration

Sept. 11-13: All Star Football Kickoff Weekend. Come to Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park and show your team pride on this season's opening football weekend. There will be contests for best decorated campsite, craziest football fan, and many other activities to prepare for this year's season.
