Frontier Military Days

Fort Stevenson Frontier Military Days are held annually on the fourth weekend in June. A military encampment is set up on the front lawn of the Guardhouse allowing visitors to experience life as it was in a frontier military fort. The three inch ordinance rifled cannon is fired to start each day’s activities which include: period gun display, tours of Guardhouse, period children’s games, tomahawk and gun use demonstrations, trader’s tent, military maneuvers, period cooking demonstrations, Sahnish Arikara Native American displays, and other living history demonstrations.

The foundation also hosts guided tours of the Guardhouse during the Dickens Village Festival where visitors arrive at the Guardhouse in a vintage double decker English bus.

Foundation meetings are held monthly the second Thursday of the month. Please contact the park for more information.
