Volunteering
Campground Host Program
Retired? Summers free? Consider volunteering to work in a North Dakota State Park as a Campground Host. In exchange for working a one to three month period, hosts receive free, full-service camping for the duration of their stay.
As of March 28, the following positions are still available for the 2008 season:
- Session #1 (May 15 – June 16)—Cross Ranch, Lewis & Clark, Lake Metigoshe, Ft. Ransom and Beaver Lake state
- Session #2 (June 17 – July 14)—Beaver Lake State Park
- Session #3 (July 15 – August 11)—Beaver Lake and Little Missouri state parks
- Session #4 (August 12 – September 8)—Ft. Stevenson, Little Missouri and Beaver Lake state parks
- Session #5 (September 9-30)—Turtle River State Park

PDF Instructions: PDF forms can be filled out on-line, printed, and then
mailed to the Campground Host Coordinator.

RTF
Instructions: RTF (rich text format) forms may be downloaded
using common word processing software. In most cases, the file will open
in
your word
processing
software,
and you
can then use the Save As command to save the document. In other cases,
the form will download and give you an option to save or open. Select the
Save
command to save the file to your hard drive, and then open the document
in your word processing software. Fields will expand as you type. Then
save the completed application as a .rtf document. It can then be either
printed
or e-mailed as an attachment to the Campground Host Coordinator.
Volunteers in Parks (VIP) Program
Don't have time to volunteer as a Campground Host? There are plenty of other volunteer opportunities available. Whether you are interested in visitor services, photography, interpretation, research, history, maintenance work, art or office work, the VIP program can provide you with a meaningful volunteer experience. If you would like to volunteer your special skills, don't hesitate to contact your nearest state park.
