History

Friends of Turtle River's (FOTR) primary mission is "advocacy and support of Turtle River State Park and the ND Parks and Recreation Department". The group has been active since 2002. FOTR is an off-shoot of a previous Friends of Recreation & Parks organization.

Membership

Currently, there are no dues or membership fees to join Friends of Turtle River. The group is looking for all recreational activities, whether it be camping, biking, fishing, bird watching or any other outdoor activity, to be represented to bring new viewpoints and information to the attention of the group and park management.

Project History

Past projects of the Friends of Turtle River have included:

  • Purchase of digital projectors.

  • Purchase of interpretive program supplies and materials.

  • Tree and shrub plantings.

  • Shared funding of the park's main entrance sign and playground equipment.

  • Provision of hand sanitizers and soap dispensers at comfort stations and vault toilet facilities.

  • Landscaping projects throughout the park.
