Friends of Turtle River's (FOTR) primary mission is "advocacy and support of Turtle River State Park and the ND Parks and Recreation Department". The group has been active since 2002. FOTR is an off-shoot of a previous Friends of Recreation & Parks organization.

Currently, there are no dues or membership fees to join Friends of Turtle River. The group is looking for all recreational activities, whether it be camping, biking, fishing, bird watching or any other outdoor activity, to be represented to bring new viewpoints and information to the attention of the group and park management.

Anyone interested in joining Friends of Turtle River should contact the park directly. Please include your name, home address, phone number and email address.
