While North Dakota state park campgrounds are open year-round, the department shifts to limited services fall through the spring. The availability of services is weather and staffing-dependent. Special accommodations can be requested during the off-season by contacting the park directly.

Tentative Campground Information:

  • Beaver Lake State Park 
    • West comfort station has been closed.
       
  • Cross Ranch State Park
    • Water in the main campground is on (throughout the winter).
    • Office hours will be reduced on weekends to 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on September 21. 
    • Water at dump station will be shut off October 1.
    • Water in the Sanger campground will be shut off on November 1.
    • Vault toilet at Sanger campground will be shut down on December 1.
       
  • Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park 
    • Commissary Store and Custer House Tours close September 13.
    • Visitor Center open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. October 1 and 2.
    • Visitor Center hours reduced 1-5 p.m. daily on October 3.
    • Campground water and comfort station will be turned off/closed on October 18.
    • Camping cabins close on November 1.
    • Infantry post & blockhouses close after the first snowfall.
       
  • Fort Ransom State Park 
    • Comfort & dump stations will close and water in the modern campground will be turned off on October 1.
    • Water in the horse corral area will be turned off on October 18.
    • Nils Olson Cabin & Percheron Wagon will be closed November 1.
       
  • Fort Stevenson State Park 
    • West comfort station will be shut down September 13.
    • Marina utilities and services close October 1.
    • Campground winterization will tentatively begin October 4, weather permitting.
    • Guardhouse tours available by appointment only after Labor Day.
       
  • Grahams Island State Park
    • Full-service camping season will go until September 30th. Campsite water will be shut off October 1. 
    • The comfort station for the LaRose/Howard campgrounds will close on September 20.   
    • The Ziebach comfort station will close on October 1. 
    • The old Bait Shop bathrooms will be open until October 31.  
    • Fish cleaning stations and courtesy docks will be closed when freezing temperatures occur.
       
  • Icelandic State Park 
    • North comfort station, concession stand and historic buildings are closed.
    • West comfort station closes October 31.
    • Campground water will be turned off in the West and South Loops on October 1 and in the North Loop October 4. The dump station will also be closed as of October 4.
    • Water available year-round in the Primitive Loop.
       
  • Lake Metigoshe State Park
    • Maid O'Moonshine comfort station closed on September 7. 
    • Beach comfort station on September 13. 
    • Washegum comfort station closes and water is shut off on October 4. 
    • Office hours change to 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on October 4. 
       
  • Lake Sakakawea State Park 
    • Marina concession store closes after Labor Day weekend. 
    • All the comfort stations but Elbowoods closed after Labor Day.
    • The marina utilities will be closed on October 1.  
    • Water will be shut down in the campgrounds on October 4.
       
  • Lewis & Clark State Park 
    • Trader Bay Visitor Center hours change to 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily on September 6. 
    • The comfort station closes and water is turned off on October 4. 
       
  • Little Missouri State Park:
    • Closes on November 1 and will reopen in the spring.
       
  • Turtle River State Park
    • Woodland cabins will close September 27. 
    • Campground dump station and water will close October 4. 
    • CCC comfort station closes November 1. 

Cabins:

  • Camping cabins will be open until November 1, unless otherwise noted above. 
  • Full-service cabins and yurts are available 365 days a year.
