No summer vacation is complete without a dip in the lake. Grab your family, friends, and head out to one of our many swim beaches located around the state. Swimming areas are marked, and guests are asked to read and follow the posted safety rules.

 

North Dakota State Park Beaches:

  • Beaver Lake State Park is located along the shores of Beaver Lake. The swim beach is located on the northern end of the park next to the Nature Trail trailhead.
  • Grahams Island State Park is located along the shores of Devils Lake. The swim beach is located just south of the primitive campground.
  • Icelandic State Park is located along the shore of Lake Renwick. The swim beach at Icelandic is located near the south loop campground and playground.
  • Fort Stevenson State Park is located along the northern shore of Lake Sakakawea. The swim beach is located on the eastern edge of the park.
  • Lake Metigoshe State Park is located on the western shore of Lake Metigoshe. The swim beach is located near the primitive campground and playground.
  • Lake Sakakawea State Park is located on the southeast edge of Lake Sakakawea. The swim beach is located on the south side of the park near the primitive campground.
  • Lewis & Clark State Park is located on the western edge of Lake Sakakawea. The swim beach is located on the northern edge of the park near the camping cabins.

 

Swim Beach Information:

  • No lifeguards are on duty
  • Swim beach hours are 7 am – 10 pm
  • Adult supervision is required for children under 12
  • For the safety of all swimmers, swim within the buoyed area only if present
  • Glass containers are prohibited
  • Fishing is prohibited within the swimming area
  • Pets are prohibited on the swim beach, however, a number of parks have areas located on the water for your four-legged friends.
