Full Snow Moon Candlelight Hike

Come out and experience a candlelit hike under the full moon. The Full Moon in February is known as the Snow Moon. Cross-country ski, snowshoe or hike, park staff will use candle luminaries to light the trail. Meet at the Visitor Center at 6:00 pm. Afterward, enjoy snacks and refreshments.


Ojibway Snowshoe Lacing

Fort Stevenson State Park is pleased to host an Ojibway Snowshoe Lacing Workshop on Saturday, February 1, 2020, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This instructor-led workshop will give participants the opportunity to lace their own pair of Ojibway snowshoes. The cost is $85.00 per participant; the fee includes a snowshoe kit, lunch, and snack. The registration deadline is January 1, 2020. Class size is limited to 12 participants — register by calling Fort Stevenson State Park at 701-337-5576.

Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant Workshop

Flakes of Fury Bike Race

Join us for Flakes of Fury, Fort Stevenson's 2nd Annual Fat Tire Bike Race! The race route is a series of laps beginning at the Visitor Center. Total distance 13 miles. The course starts with asphalt and heads onto the trail for varied terrain, the condition will depend on the weather.


Canceled - Snowmobile Safety Class - Minot

Unfortunately, we are canceling the snowmobile safety class in Minot (January 18, 2020) due to lack of interest.

Your child can take an online version of the course at https://www.snowmobilecourse.com/usa/northdakota/ and receive the same certification.

The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a youth snowmobile safety class in Minot. This class will certify riders 10 years of age and older who do not have a valid driver's license.

First Day Hike

Bring in the New Year on the trail! Cross-country ski, snowshoe or hike on a candlelit trail. Park staff will use candle luminaries to light the trail. Visitors are welcome to enjoy snacks and refreshments. Meet at the Visitor Center at 6:00 PM.
Ski and snowshoe rentals are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Contact the park office at 701-337-5576 for more information.

The hike starts at the Commissary Store at 1:00 pm and will take you on a great hiking adventure in the park bringing you back to the Commissary Store where hot refreshments will be available to warm you up before you set out to enjoy the rest of your New Year’s Day!
