For the second hike in the series, come out and enjoy the full moon in February known as the Snow Moon. Cross-country ski, snowshoe or hike starting from the visitor center. Our team will use candle luminaries to light the trail.

Want to try snowshoeing? Join us for a group snowshoeing hike! We will be talking about the basics of how snowshoes work, different types of snowshoes, and heading out to give them a try. Registration is required and is free. Snowshoes are provided. If you have your own, you are welcome to wear your own.

Test your endurance and battle the elements by competing in the Fort Stevenson State Park Flakes of Fury Fat Tire Bike Race! Prizes for first, second and third in both men's and women's divisions will be awarded.

Visit the Exhibition Gallery on the 18th floor of the North Dakota Capitol to view over a decade of art pieces donated by artists who spent time in North Dakota state parks as part of the Artist in Residency program. All are invited to attend an opening reception on Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Meet at the Visitor Center to hike, snowshoe or ski the one-mile loop of the Matah Trail with a Cross Ranch park ranger. Rentals of skis and snowshoes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Join us afterward to warm up around the fire and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate or coffee at the Visitors Center.

Ring in the New Year at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park with the 2023 First Day Hike. The hike starts at the Visitor Center at 1 p.m. and will take you on a scenic hike in the park before returning to the Visitor Center where hot refreshments will be available. Enjoy hot chocolate and coffee will be served inside next to a roaring, warm fire.

Start the new year off with a candlelight hike! The self-guided hike begins at the Visitor Center where snacks and refreshments will be served afterward.

The annual lighting of the blockhouse at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park will take place on Sunday, December 11. The hike will start and end at the Visitor Center where a hot chocolate bar and coffee will be served next to a warm fire. Join us as we prepare to kick off the holiday season!

Take in this festive geocaching experience during the Dickens Village Festival. Each Friday of the festival (November 25, December 2, and December 9) GPS coordinates of four geocaches containing an ornament are published. Each ornament is a first-to-find prize.
