Students ages 8 and up, will make a tooled leather keychain that they can take home with them. They will learn how to proof their leather with water and sponges, transfer a pattern, carve the pattern into the leather with a swivel knife, and then use a variety of tools to make their design a success. We will then dye the pieces so they are ready to show off to all of your friends and fellow cowpokes, after all this is a traditional western folk art!

The Artist in Residence program is a partnership between the ND Council on the Arts and the ND Parks & Recreation Department. All programs are free and you do not have to be camping to attend our programs. Rain outs will be held in the Visitor Center Classroom. Vehicle passes are required for vehicles entering state parks.
