Ever wanted to fish with a rod you built yourself? Here’s your chance!
Join expert rod builder Chuck DeRemer for a hands-on Custom Fishing Rod Workshop at Lake Metigoshe State Park. Over the course of a weekend, you’ll learn the art and mechanics of rod building—selecting components, assembling your rod step by step, and finishing it with professional techniques. When you’re done, you won’t just walk away with new skills; you’ll leave with a custom rod made by you and ready for the water!
This immersive workshop is open to ages 14+ (or 12+ with a parent/guardian) and is limited to just 12 participants, ensuring plenty of one-on-one guidance.
Workshop Schedule
Friday, April 10: 6–9 pm
Saturday, April 11: 9 am–5 pm
Rods will spin overnight for curing and will be ready for pick-up Sunday morning. Alternate pickup arrangements can be made if needed.
Online registration opens January 21 at 9 am.
Cost is $250 total ($150 registration + $100 instructor fee). Registration is complete only after both payments are received.
Whether you’re an experienced angler or simply curious about the craft behind the gear, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to slow down, learn something new, and create a fishing rod that’s uniquely yours.
