Fort Stevenson State Park

Take a step back in time! Fort Stevenson State Park is hosting Frontier Military Days on June 24th and 25th on the Guardhouse Interpretive Center lawn. Open from noon to 4 p.m. both days of the event.

Visitors can experience what life was like at an 1870s military fort. The military encampment features authentic tents and gear, living history demonstrations of tomahawk throwing, trader tent and black powder gun demonstrations. Skills and crafts of the Indian Wars period on display.

Witness the cannon firing at noon and 3:30 pm each day.

Fort Stevenson Frontier Military Days is sponsored by the Fort Stevenson Foundation, a volunteer organization that sponsored reconstruction of the original fort's guardhouse. The Guardhouse Interpretive Center houses displays and artifacts about military life in the Dakota Territory. Make time to visit and tour the Guardhouse Interpretive Center.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. An annual or daily vehicle permit is required for park entrance and can be purchased online or at the park.

In appreciation of our visitors, Fort Stevenson State Park is proudly offering free daily admission into the park on Sunday, June 25 for all visitors.
