Kids' Weekend: Stars & Stripes

Come celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America with Icelandic State Park this Kids Weekend! We'll have games, events, and crafts throughout the weekend to show off your patriotism. Enjoy a foam party, color run, arts and crafts, games and much more.

Ongoing Events

Participate in these activities throughout the weekend. Winners will be announced on Sunday at noon.

• Site Decorating Contest: One winner will be selected for the best-decorated campsite.
• Coloring Contest: Age categories include 6 and under, 7 to 10, 11 to 13 and 14 to 18.
• Fishing Derby: Enter a drawing for a chance to win.
• Sandcastle Contest: Build the best sandcastle!
• Medallion Hunt: Watch for clues at the end of events. Be the first to find the medallion!

Friday, August 7

• 3:30 pm: New York Kammermusiker Concert — Akra Hall Pavilion
• 5 to 7 pm: Rock Painting with North Dakota Foster or Adopt — Picnic Shelter
• 7:30 to 8 pm: Exchange Tickets for SWAG Bags — Amphitheater
• 8 to 9 pm: Scavenger Hunt and Event Information — Amphitheater

Saturday, August 8

• 10 am to noon: Cornhole Tournament — Picnic Shelter
• 10 to 11 am: Orienteering Race — Picnic Shelter
• 11 am to noon: All-American Kids’ Games — Picnic Shelter
• Noon to 1 pm: Beach Bingo — Beach
• 2 to 3:30 pm: Arts and Crafts — Picnic Shelter
• 4 to 6 pm: Foam Party — Picnic Shelter
• 7 to 8:30 pm: Cross-Country Color Run — Picnic Shelter
  Bring a white shirt to add some color! There will be one heat for kids ages 7 and under and another for kids ages 8 to 13.
• 8:30 pm: Awards — Amphitheater
• 9 to 10:30 pm: Movie: Cars — Amphitheater

Sunday, August 9

• 8 to 10:30 am: Pancake Breakfast — Amphitheater
  Freewill donations accepted. All proceeds will go toward next year’s Kids’ Weekend.
• Noon: Winners of Ongoing Events Announced on Facebook

The event is free of charge and open to the public. An annual or daily vehicle permit is required for park entrance and can be purchased online or at the park.
