Tapping trees for syrup in North Dakota! Join us at Fort Stevenson on April 8 and learn how to make maple syrup. Our team will demonstrate how to tap a tree, collect sap and turn it into delicious maple syrup. Hear about the history of maple syrup and the equipment used. Kids activities and patch program will be going on throughout the day. See how to make sugar on the snow. Local youth groups will be selling maple cotton candy and maple popcorn.

Maple talks: 10 am, noon and 2 pm

Pancake and sausage breakfast: 10 am until supplies last

Horse-drawn wagon rides: 11 am - 3 pm

Music by the Moon Cats: 11 am and 1 pm

A patch program will also be offered throughout the day, and any interested individuals or groups are invited to participate. This year’s patch and a wood burn stamped tree coin can be earned together. Cost is $5 for the patch + tree coin with completion of a Maple Sugaring Day activity sheet at the event. Pre-register by April 1 by calling the park office 701-337-5576.

Contact the park office (701-337-5576) with any questions. The event is free of charge and open to the public. An annual or daily vehicle permit is required for park entrance and can be purchased online or at the park.
