There is no better way to celebrate and appreciate the hard work put into North Dakota’s trail systems than on National Trails Day, June 5. This event is a nationwide effort that encourages everyone to explore and advocate for trails. Take the opportunity to participate in a volunteer trail project, collect litter, or join in a guided hike or trail activity all while finding physical, mental, and emotional restoration.

Join Lake Metigoshe State Park for Great Outdoors Weekend, with a variety of outdoor activities planned for all ages June 4 and 5. Take part in amphitheater programs in addition to participating in National Trails Day and Free Fishing Days in North Dakota.

Celebrate North Dakota's homesteading spirit at Icelandic State Park with amphitheater programming, trail activities, an exploration hike, and historic building tours.

Make plans to visit Fort Stevenson State Park Memorial Day weekend and bring your kite! Sky Fest welcomes kite flyers of all ages to decorate the sky over Fort Stevenson on May 29, 30, & 31 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Fly your own kite or witness professional kite flyers as they bring in some of the largest kites currently in production. Special activities will take place each day throughout the weekend including building your own kite.

Turtle River State Park hosts Camping Hacks Weekend May 28-29, with amphitheater programming about campfire cooking and camping hacks, in addition to a Dakota Explorers Camping Games activity.

Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park invites you to the “Never Forgotten Memorial Walk-a-Thon” to celebrate Memorial Day and honor those who have given everything for our country. Bring your American flags big and small, and hold them high as you walk around the parade grounds of Fort Abraham Lincoln decorated with flags from the various branches of U.S. military.

The Garrison-Max Ambulance is hosting their annual EMS Kid Strong Event at Fort Stevenson State Park on Saturday, May 22, from 4-7 p.m. in the Garrison Bay Marina.  The event features the following local public service entities:  Garrison-Max Ambulance, Garrison Memorial Hospital, Garrison Fire & Rescue, North Dakota Highway Patrol, McLean County Sheriff’s Department, North Dakota Game & Fish Department, Fort Stevenson State Park Rangers, Northstar Criticair, Sanford AirMed.  The event offers many fun activities for kids including bike rodeo, bounce houses, and door prizes, to name a few.    

Join us for our annual fishing derby! Learn to tie knots, cast and even try your hand at fishing. We will be giving away door prizes and a first fish award so be sure to stick around as you must be present to win. Not into fishing? No problem as we will have an activity table and a scavenger hunt.

Join the Friends of LCSP on May 8th, 2021 at Lewis and Clark State Park for a park clean-up day! Meet at the Friends Shelter! Clean up will take place from 2- 4 pm and the Friends of LCSP Annual Meeting will be held from 4-5 pm.

Join us for our annual Cache In Trash Out Park Clean-up Day and celebrate Earth Day too! We will be meeting at 10 am at the Chalet and dividing out the different areas of the park. Trash bags and disposable gloves will be provided. Bring your own water and stay for a picnic!
